De 28-jarige violist Josef Spacek, laureaat van de drukbekeken Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd, nam deze concerten live op met "zijn" Tsjechisch Filharmonisch Orkest onder leiding van chef-dirigent Jiri Belohlavek.
De jonge Tsjech Josef Spacek is een van de uitmuntende violisten van zijn generatie. Dat is te horen op deze opname met drie concertante vioolwerken uit zijn thuisland, geschreven aan het eind van de 19e en het begin van de 20e eeuw. Luisterend naar Spaceks gepassioneerde en gevoelige uitvoering van Antonín Dvoráks Vioolconcert vraag je je af waarom dit werk nog steeds wordt overschaduwd door het veel bekendere Celloconcert. Jiri Belohlavek en het Tsjechisch Philharmonisch staan garant voor even idiomatisch als soulvol musiceren op het allerhoogste niveau.
