Deze nieuwe Beethoven-symfoniecyclus met het Malmö-symfonieorkest is het debuut van Robert Trevino op Ondine. Trevino is een van de snelst opkomende jonge dirigenten en staat bekend om zijn frisse en levendige interpretaties van zowel het standaardrepertoire als van hedendaagse werken. Trevino is momenteel chef-dirigent van het Malmö-symfonieorkest en muziekdirecteur van het Baskisch Nationaal Orkest. Na zijn studie bij de dirigenten David Zinman, Seiji Ozawa en Michael Tilson Thomas werkte Trevino als naaste medewerker van Leif Segerstam voordat hij zijn debuut maakte bij een aantal toonaangevende symfonieorkesten wereldwijd.

Deze Beethoven-symfonieën werden opgenomen in het kader van een Beethoven-festival dat in oktober 2019 in Malmö, Zweden, werd gehouden.
